"Preaching Hope for a Weary World"

Mark your calendars for the 2023 Festival of Homiletics.  From their website:

The Festival of Homiletics is a week-long conference designed to inspire discourse about preaching, worship, and society. Our mission is to provide the opportunity for theological reflection on the practices of preaching and worship, especially as congregations navigate being church in the 21st century. Between 1,500 and 1,800 preachers, pastors, and lay people from all 50 states and 20+ countries attend the conference each year, around 50% being returning participants. The Festival of Homiletics is a week of refreshment, renewal, and inspiration for all who attend.

"Visions of the Reign of God: Preaching and Catholic Social Teaching"

June 26-28, 2023

For the 7th year, The Marten Program at Notre Dame, directed by Fr. Michael E. Connors, is offering a major Preaching Conference. I have attended every year, and it is an inspiring, informative, engaging experience. Open to clergy and laity of all denominations, the preaching conference features outstanding keynote speakers, focused workshops led by skilled practitioners and theologians, liturgy in the Basilica, shared meals and social time, and the opportunity to connect with other preachers, teachers, and theologians. Come and experience the beauty of the campus and Basilica, the legendary Notre Dame hospitality, and the most welcoming and inclusive participants around. Participants are a diverse group of priests, deacons,  lay men and women, teachers, and practitioners. Both Rev. Ben Roberts and I will be there, and we would love to meet you in person and introduce you to our preaching colleagues!  Lodging options include the gorgeous Morris Inn located in the middle of campus directly across from the Conference venue, other local hotels, or the more economical (and spartan) campus dorms. I will be in the dorms!  For information, check out the following link:
